In the East American state of New York, local politicians reportedly killed a proposal that would have seen a casino resort brought over to the densely populated island of Manhattan later this year.
According to Wednesday's report in the New York Post, a Las Vegas-style estate authorization proposal for the municipality has been included in the state budget for the coming year. Supporters allegedly hoped to lift the existing moratorium on such projects in the hope that they would be able to attract players from across the region and immediately obtain a projected $ 1.5 billion license fee while creating hundreds of full-time jobs. Perspective proposals:
The newspaper reported that a number of operators, including Bally's Corporation, Wynn Resorts Limited, and Las Vegas Sands Corporation, were even thought to queue up potential bids for the right to move the casino resort to the 6,400-acre island of approximately1.6 million people.
However, lawmakers reportedly passed an annual budget on April 6 without a casino measure due to a dispute between New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (pictured) and Manhattan officials in New York City Council . Some of these members oppose the idea of introducing such a gambling-friendly facility to the center of the country's largest city and have allegedly called on the legislator to special rightsthat would allow them to decide on any proposal.
A dangerous pattern:
Currently in his third four-year term as prominent New York legislature, Cuomo was reportedly concerned about granting the powerful island municipality any special decision-making rights due to concerns that the move might set a precedent for subsequent budget negotiations . Casino friendly agent supposedly could not have been accepted without such relief and was therefore put back on the shelf.
